Labuanbajo

Today was a recovery day. I know it doesn't seem like you should need to recover on a vacation but we were all exhausted after our boat trip. In the morning Taryn wasn't feeling 100% so she and aunty asked Adrian ( the man we are staying with) and he recommended to go to the doctor. Aunty and Taryn caught the bemo (bus) into town and went to the doctor who said that she had an infection in her throat and her leg ( which got burnt on a motorcycle) so she got a shot for pain - in the butt - and some good antibiotics. She was able to sleep for the rest of the day and is already perking up. Hopefully it will be the end of her being sick!
The rest of us went into town for lunch and wandered around for a while in the grocery store. We picked up a cup of soup for dinner tonight and some juices and fruit.
We also planned a day trip for tomorrow to drive around Flores and check out caves, waterfalls, rice plantations, and other crops such as coffee and vanilla. It should be a nice end to our adventure here in Flores and also give us a better look at the island itself.
Hope you are all doing well. We think of you everyday. Attached are some pictures of the streets in Labuanbajo.

  1. We are so happy that your adventure is going so well. Taryn, glad to hear you are feeling better. You have raised the bar for travel communication. With face time we feel a little more like we are there with you. Grandmas birthday today, as you know, will be thinking of you. All, the best, stay aware, take lots of pictures, love uncle Tom, ps. So envious of the diving, scout out future family vaca spot :) .

  2. Glad to hear that Taryn is feeling better, damn those motorcycles...sounds like things are going better for her - You might not believe it but it still is blue sky and above average here with no snow (probably just ruined that now) You all stay healthy and thanks Jenna for the great updates.

  3. So good to hear from you today and we are glad that Taryn is feeling so much better. Must be the Viking in her. or perhaps it is the team Viking that supports her! You guys looked so fresh at 6:30 am. Looking forward to seeing photos of the plantations. Hopefully you get to sample the produce. When will the blog followers get to see a picture of a dragon???? Any Dutch influence in the culture??????
